Dear little Sista,
Words cannot begin to express how extremely proud of you I am for making it this far. This is only the beginning so that means there is so much more in store for you. I want to give you a few pieces of advice that are helping me on this journey called life.
“It’s not the critic who counts”
Believe me when I tell say you won’t be able to make everyone happy
all the time. Whenever you give an idea, a creative piece, or even
blood, sweat, and tears, there will always be someone trying to tear you
down. However, for every one person attempting to tear you down
there are at least five or six people there to lift you up...some you may
not even know. Don’t let the fear of rejection and criticism keep you
from living and succeeding.
“Be You”
What are the chances that out of millions of sperm and eggs you would
be chosen--that’s no accident. Due to you being chosen you possess
certain unique talents, personality traits, and gifts...use them and BE
YOU! Even Dr. Seuss recognized the importance of individuality when
he said, “Today you are you. That is truer than you. There is no one
alive who is more you than you.”
Do everything from a place of “love”!
Everything starts with love. Now when I say love, I don’t mean from a romantic standpoint.
I mean a standpoint of, “I want what’s best for you and you want what’s best
for me.” There are millions of hurt souls wandering around this planet
just looking for someone to say or show, “I care.” Whenever you talk
with someone from a place of love you are single handedly healing the
world one person at a time.” Everything starts with love.
I hope these life lessons help you through your darkest moments, for it is when it’s darkest that our souls shine the brightest.
