Define Your Circle!

Boys, Boys, Boys

Now let’s talk about how we define friends that are boys and boyfriends. You need to establish what that means in your circle and how you will interact. Boys will only treat you the way that you allow them to treat you so you must define the type of interactions you will have. 

Always value your self-esteem, not allowing them to make you feel less than or not enough. You are a teen, still figuring out who you are, so don’t jump into the river of love and drown. Remember, LOVE is a strong word. SO fall in love with yourself first.  Save the love word and yourself for later in life.

Girls, Friends & Followers

What about your friends? Will they be around? Will they let you down? Will they hold you up? (My TLC song shout out).

Seriously, will your friends accept you for who you are and not try to change you?

Will your friends respect your boundaries and not place you in positions that compromise your values?

I need you to think about what type of friend you are to others as well. Are you a leader or a follower? Are you a part of a group of girls who are cliquish and all you do is sit up and stay in drama talking about everyone? Are you being social media conscious? Friends don’t text, like or speak words of hate, jealousy or negativity into the world of others. If this is happening in your circle, it is time to make that change! 

Let’s Explore Positive Options and Activities.

*Have sleepovers, play games or watch silent movies, Kickbacks or music listening parties.

*Go to the mall, park, skating, bowling or dinner. 

*Be open to exploring new things, including after-school activities. Group activities are the best.

*Be okay with spending time one on one, and it doesn’t always have to be the same friend.

*Remember: boys don’t always have to be boy~ friends, they can be really cool friends as well!

If you find yourself catching feelings, make sure you apply the love principle. Does the boy, girl or group of friends Listen, Observe you, Validate your feelings and Empower you to grow? If not, let them go! If so, Let them flow! 

That is the start to defining a true circle of friends!
