SistaKeeper Poetry for the Soul: Sticks and Stones
Sticks and Stones!
Sticks and stones may break my bones,
but your words will never hurt me!
But they do, don’t they?
People may say what they want to say,
but how do you deal with that from day to day?
They say you’re ugly, tall, short and you don’t have it all.
You’re fat, black, too light, too dark, and you’re not on the ball.
Who are they anyway?
Do you listen to what they say, or
do you make a decision today to listen to your mind and say:
I am a Beautiful, Black Child of God, inside and out.
I refuse to let you turn me around.
No matter what you say, I believe in me anyway.
We must learn to appreciate the differences this universe brings.
We are all different, but we all have feelings.
My feelings are real, but my spirit leads me.
So say what you want to say!
Yes sticks and stones may break my bones,
but your words will never hurt me!
BECAUSE LOVE CONQUERS HATE!
KNOWLEDGE CONQUERS STUPIDITY
AND NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY
YOUR WORDS MEAN NOTHING!
Why?
Because, I know me!
And, yes, sticks and stones may break my bones,
but your words will never hurt me!
